MCTC Library Makerspace: Information, policies, and resources

Policies

  • Be respectful and courteous to others in the space while using supplies and equipment.
  • Supplies and equipment are subject to availability and are limited for use. 
  • Report accidents and injuries immediately to the library staff.
  • Food and drink are prohibited in the U-Make It Makerspace.
  • Use of equipment and supplies are on a first come first serve basis, unless scheduled for an appointment. All scheduled appointments receive priority. When equipment is reserved, other users should not use it.
  • Supplies and equipment must be returned in the same condition in which they were found.
  • All supplies and equipment are for in-library use only. 
  • Tools and equipment must be used in a safe and proper manner.
  • If anyone damages any equipment, that person will be subject to repair charges, up to and including the price of replacing the item. 
  • The library does not accept responsibility if a project is destroyed, does not print correctly, does not work, or if any of the patron’s personal property (including laptops & other technology) is damaged or destroyed while using any of the library’s equipment.
  • Students under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times, due to potentially dangerous supplies, tools, and machines, i.e. scissors, hot glue gun, etc.
  • Students' personal computers may not be used to connect to any library equipment.
  • All users must abide by copyright laws. The person using the equipment is responsible for any infringement. It is up to each individual to ensure personal compliance with copyright law.
  • At no time may a student or employee create or manufacture weapons of any kind, illegal, offensive, or NSFW items, or the production of parts for profit.
