Fiction:

  • Short Story: Max 5 pages
  • Flash Fiction: 500 to 1000 words
  • Micro Fiction: Max 500 words
  • Long Fiction: Max 10 pages

Length: 

  • Page is defined as 250 words, double spaced.
  • In PDF format.
  • Each prose piece must be submitted separately.
  • Any genre is acceptable, i.e. Science Fiction, Romance, Mystery, Historical, etc. Include page number (if applicable), title, and student’s last name in the header in the upper right (for example (Jones: I Love Poetry  5) for all fiction categories.
  • Cover page for Short Story and Long Fiction should include title, student’s first and last name, category, and word count without the header or page number.
  • All fiction should have proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors, unless improper writing mechanics are intended for creative effect.
